NZDG and the Lakes District Health Board last week signed off the contract for the provision of a combined hospital / community medical laboratory service to the southern region of the Lakes district. Trading as Taupo Pathology, the new entity will see the integration of the previously separate hospital and community services, leading to an improved service for local clinicians and patients.
NZDG Director Ian Vickers welcomed the constructive approach taken to negotiation and consultation processes which has enabled the contract to commence two months ahead of schedule. This has allowed Taupo Pathology to progress the integration of the two laboratories whilst presenting the DHB with additional short term savings.
